One of the interesting things about the GNU GPL is that if an organisation is not offering an application for use by the public, then it can keep hold of the source. In this case a commercial license is not required as the application will not be publically released as such. Also in this circumstance there are no licensing issues when combining Strandz with proprietary software. Thus if a company pays the Strandz copyright holder to write the application then the loop is closed: it gets to keep its competitive position. Additionally it can alter the application and the loop still remains closed.

If a commercial license is required then Strandz will be amenable to the requirements of your situation. More on licensing.
